Compulsory Third Party (CTP)
CTP Claims Specifically for Motor Vehicle Accident Injuries in Queensland
If you’ve been injured in a motor vehicle accident in Queensland, you may be able to make a Compulsory Third Party (CTP) claim. These claims help people injured by another driver’s partial or full fault. Whether you were a driver, passenger, pedestrian, or cyclist, a CTP claim can help you access physiotherapy and medical treatment.
CTP insurance covers reasonable rehab and medical costs, including physiotherapy after a car accident. This support is especially useful if your injuries affect your work or daily life. You can recover without the added stress of paying out of pocket.
In most cases, you’ll lodge the claim against the CTP insurer of the at-fault vehicle. You can still claim even if you were partly responsible, though your compensation may be reduced.
A CTP claim gives you access to treatment that supports your recovery. If you're not sure where to begin, we can help you start the claim and arrange physiotherapy while it’s being processed.

See Your GP and Report the Accident
After a motor vehicle accident, it’s important to see your GP as soon as possible, even if you feel fine. Some injuries may not show symptoms straight away. Your doctor will assess you, document any injuries related to the crash, and complete the Medical Certificate required for your CTP claim.
If the accident hasn’t been reported yet, make sure to do so and obtain a Police Event Number. You can find the relevant reporting forms and claim documents on the MAIC website. A checklist of required information is also available to guide you through the process.
If you’ve been in an accident in Queensland, here’s what you need to do to start your CTP claim:
- Visit the MAIC website (https://maic.qld.gov.au/)
- Submit a Notice of Accident Claim Form (NOAC)
And it must be done within 9 months of the accident OR 1 month after seeing a lawyer/GP about the injury.
